CHEAP FLIGHTS TO BUSINESS SUCCESS – PART 3
This is going to be a
2-part session, where we will discuss the next 2 reasons why you may not want to
go into or grow a business; the lack of love or zeal for the chosen business
direction, and the disbelief in your own ability to succeed.
Lack of Love or Zeal for the Chosen Business Direction
Hmmm... Well... This
was my experience (which answers the question of why I stopped the bag
business).
When I was still on
with the bag business, I noticed something about me which I couldn’t quite
explain then. Any time I got custom orders, or a chance to rise unto the next
level, I got sluggish, and somewhere deep within me, I didn’t welcome it
wholeheartedly. I wanted it though, but I just didn’t feel like I was ready for
it... or like I could handle it... or like I really wanted to do it. Then.., I
decided to take an honest look at myself and why this was happening.
The answer..? I had
such little zeal to grow or perform when it was demanded of me because my love
for the business rested firmly on my love for arts and crafts and designing,
and I loved arts and crafts as a hobby. So bringing in the complexities of
business (orders... money... customer complaints and preferences...
drudgery...) just made the whole thing just not worth it for me. And that’s why
I was secretly sabotaging myself.
Another thing I had to
come to terms with... I’m not a ‘fashionista’! I’m a bit of a ‘utility chic’.
What I mean by ‘utility chic’ is that I don’t care so much about my looks (as
much as the next chic anyway), so venturing into the fashion world... It just
wasn’t my life. I knew a lot about me would have to change so fast and I may
not be able to recognize myself anymore; plus, the low zeal won’t take me so
far since I needed that (zeal) to compete in the industry and sustain the
business (besides, I detest stagnancy, so I really wanted to grow in something,
but it just wasn’t the bag business).
You cannot force an
idea, even on yourself. You are just as stubborn as the next person (lol).
Next lesson...? Do something
you can afford to sustain (emotionally, mentally, physically, psychologically,
financially... everything-ally).
This is because, if
you don’t, you won’t know when you will begin to sabotage your own efforts to
succeed. I could prove this to myself with my current agro-processing business.
I feel more zeal to continue and grow in this business than in the bag
business.
And now, for the next reason...
Disbelief in Your Own Ability to Succeed
Well... in my opinion,
and from my experience, I’d say this reason to shy away from business stems
from poor zeal (or lack of love). Think about it, my dear. If you truly love
what you do, would you have that zeal to keep at it or grow in it (or remain there...
don’t know... if you like it just the way it is)? That zeal can push you
forward even when your mind tries to tell you (or when people try to tell you)
you will fail, or not to achieve your dream. Am I wrong?
What you can do...? Like
I said before, choose your line of business wisely, critically, and honestly.
In short, do a soul search.
So, that’s my take
from my experiences on those issues, folks. To get some insight into how to handle
the next possible reason that you might have not to venture into business (Not
even knowing the area of business to venture into), please, move unto Part 4
of Cheap Flights to Business Success. Thank you.
