A Truth About Life: Everything is Run by Exchange.
Everything is run by exchange. You can't enjoy light until you suffer darkness, and to have the light, the darkness must leave, and if you want darkness (or when it comes time for darkness) the lights must leave. You can't get unless you give, and for you to get, something must be given. Do you see the exchange?
In the case of self development, you realise that you must first drop old habits that weigh you down and bad attitudes (kind of how the bags are dropped from the passenger side of an air balloon so that it can take off from the ground. The sandbags are exchanged for elevation).
Why do I believe this concept of exchange? Let's look at the law of conservation of energy (or matter) which states that matter (or energy) is neither created nor destroyed but transformed from one form to another. Do you see the concept of exchange? You see it in the water cycle; you get the rain when water evaporates from the land and seas, saturate the skies and clouds, and then recondense as rain (water). It's exposed in Chemistry (balancing chemical reactions and equations), Physics (Newton's laws of motion, Archimedes principle, among others), Economics (in how money circulates in the economy), Mathematics and so on. It's also seen in how a cup full of air (or what you would call an empty cup) is displaced by water (or whatever) you introduce into it. Also notice how in order to fully get over an addiction, you need to pick up or develop some other consuming habit/hobby/addiction; how decluttering and minimalism brings most people a sense of ease, lightness and freedom; in your regular exchange of currency for goods or for some other currency; and moving to more spiritual matters..., in how giving more of yourself brings you more happiness, blessings and freedom in your life (am I right?); in Medicine, and how counteracting organisms, like antibiotics, can be used to neutralise harmful organisms.
Need I say more?
Nothing is free, even in freetown. So, you may want to be ready to give something up for what you want.
Now, i know that some of you are saying right now that the love of God is free. And yes it is, but guess what, in excess in your system (that is, when you don't give it out, or give of yourself), it becomes toxic! Now, before you get your knickers in a knot, have you ever heard the saying that free things can purge? Chill! Recall the grocery store analogy in the blog I posted about 10 ways to deal with depression and bipolarity without antidepressants; the part about outflow? You are like a grocery store with groceries supplied to you daily for free. If you don't distribute this groceries, they go bad and you end up having a lot of cleaning up to do. Thus, the demand made in exchange for the free groceries is that you distribute them. It's a silent demand, but it's there nonetheless. Do you think that selfish people are happy people? Why do you think they always have something to complain about? The more you give of yourself, the happier and freer you are. Do you see the exchange?
The exchange doesn't have to be forceful, like a robbery, but it's a general law of life. For every action, there's an equal and opposite reaction. The reaction is equal, and must move in the opposite direction, i.e. back to the sender. Can't break that law. When I graduated from university with my first degree, I couldn't get a job. I thought that moving around and submitting my CV in different establishments will be enough for me to get a job asap. But, I soon discovered that that action will not be enough to give in exchange for a paying job. So I made a commitment to Spirit of Life to give a portion of my monthly pay to my mother so it can help with household consumption demands, and also show her love back. This promise opened up a route for me, and I got my first paying job. I was so happy and felt great, but I also forgot about the promise. The job did remain despite my ignorance, but I couldn't make any real savings. Why? Because I kept wasting the money on irrelevant things and stupid friends. One day, it dawn on me that the underlying problem was my broken promise; the action I promised to be an equal and opposite reaction to the paying job I got. Then, I decided to take up that promise and began giving to my mum every month. I noticed that it made her very very happy, and I also noticed that the blessings flowed; I could now prioritise better, and could make savings. So, seeing the law of exchange in life as a gift of love, rather than as robbery, will help you understand this truth of life better.
So, do you feel some things in life are free with absolutely no demands in return? Do you think everything in life is run by exchange or given as a trade for something else? Are you one of those who believes the rain that falls from the sky is as a result of angels peeing on us? Feel free to voice your thoughts.
Thank you for being here. I love you and see you again soon.
